good afternoon everyone,
I hope you all got a chance to read a very honourable write up on my dad in the Penticton Herald, which published yesterday! It really sets a lot of misunderstandings straight, and gives you an idea of why my dad is such an amazing guy! He has specifically requested that I update the blog so that you can all feel a sigh of relief, and hear for yourselves how God has heard and answered your prayers, as he continues to place his hand over my daddy's head.
As i have said before, everything has been happening so quickly since Jan's accident. He has been stuck in a bed for a while now, and you all know how my dad does not like to sit still! He surprised us with the good news yesterday that he was walking on his own with a walker throughout the night! Of course he isn't able to go very far, but considering all of his injuries, it is a HUGE step!
Dad is also extremely happy to be a lot closer to home, as he has already been transferred back to the Penticton hospital yesterday evening! He almost didn't get to come due to a misunderstanding between the hospital and the ambulance. After being bumped a few times for transfer, the ambulance finally arrived unaware that they needed a paramedic with them that is trained in suctioning trach's (the hole in my dad's throat); they were not. Thankfully the oxygen technician nurse, that had recently been working with Dad, was getting off shift at 7pm, and offered his own time to ride in the ambulance, so that my dad could come home!
More good news! Dad was also told by the doctor that his wires are predicted to be taken off in as little as three weeks! Remember my dad's entire face was broken so its really a miracle how incredibly fast it is healing!
The only setback right now, besides the fact that healing needs time, is that my dad's lungs have developed an infection. He has to cough up a lot of icky stuff out of his trach or else it is a lot more difficult for him to breath. I believe that this is painful for him along his broken ribs, lungs, and throat. I personally request that anyone who is praying for him to ask for him to be relieved of this burden, and that it does not get any worse.
On a good note, my dad would be more than happy to see all of you! Seeing the people he cares about puts him in the best of spirits and can only be a positive influence on his healing process! He asked me to thank all of you again who have kept him in his prayers! He is so thankful to God for his life, and so thankful to you all for caring so much...he definitely feels the love!
Lots of love,
the Kascak's
